Hey there,

Picture this: You’re a couples therapist. You’ve helped hundreds of couples work through their biggest challenges. You literally teach people how to have better relationships for a living.

Then you get engaged after 17 years together, and you realize… you have no idea how to prepare for your own marriage.

That was me.

The Moment I Realized Something Was Missing

Here’s the thing nobody tells you about being the “relationship expert” - when it comes to your own partnership, you don’t want to be the one with all the answers. You want to figure it out TOGETHER.

So my partner and I started looking at premarital programs. And honestly? They all felt like homework assignments.

Dry questionnaires. Clinical assessments. “Communication exercises” that felt more like therapy sessions than conversations between two people who genuinely love each other.

Between his PhD dissertation, my practice, and wedding planning, we needed something that felt exciting - not like another item on our already overwhelming to-do list.

That’s when I had this thought: What if marriage prep felt like planning an adventure together instead of studying for a test?

What I Discovered

After working with couples for over a decade, I know this: your differences aren’t problems to solve. They’re the exact reasons you fell in love in the first place.

But somewhere between “I do” and “happily ever after,” we forget that.

We start seeing his spontaneity as chaos instead of the thing that makes life fun. We view her planning as controlling instead of the reason their life actually works.

What if instead of trying to fix your differences, you learned to celebrate them?

A Different Way Forward

This realization is exactly why I’m speaking at the Savvy Weddings Summit this weekend (June 21st & 22nd). I’m sharing what I’ve learned about building marriages on your strengths, not your struggles.

It’s completely free, and honestly? I’m excited to share this different perspective with couples who are being so intentional about their weddings.

Plus, if you attend, you’ll get a sneak peek (and 15% discount with code SAVVY15) of something I’m launching this month - Our Intentional Union, a relationship experience that actually feels like quality time together, not another obligation.

Because here’s what I know now: you’re already investing so much thought and energy into your wedding day.

What if you brought that same excitement to preparing for your marriage?

Talk soon,
Andrea

P.S. If you’re in the DC/MD/VA area and feeling overwhelmed by everything happening in the world right now, we do have therapy availability. Sometimes having support makes all the difference.
